Hotel Description
The family-run Mitu Wasi Eco Lodge is a tranquil tropical oasis with seven rustic bungalows in the city of Tarapoto. Committed to environmental conservation and the rational use of renewable natural resources, the owners built the bungalows with local rainforest materials in the spirit of minimalist design. With their thatched palm roofs, adobe walls, tile floors, and tables made from the cross-section of a tree trunk, they evoke the lifestyle of the region's original jungle inhabitants while providing for the comfort of the contemporary traveler. Each bungalow is appointed with a fan, full bathroom and changing room. The deliberate omission of TV enables guests to disconnect from city stress and connect with nature amid the lush gardens hung with hammocks. Organic fruits and vegetables are grown in the hotel's kitchen garden and there are fruit trees throughout the property, which also features barbecue facilities and a bonfire site.
Area
The hotel is located in the city of Tarapoto along the road to the airport, which is only eight blocks (five minutes) away. The bus terminal can be reached in ten minutes and the main square is a brief drive away to the northeast.
Food & Beverage
The hotel offers its guests a complimentary regional breakfast each morning and grows its own organic fruits and vegetables in an on-site kitchen garden. There are barbecue facilities, as well.
How To Get There
To get to the hotel from the bus terminal head east along Salaverry Ave. then bear right onto Micaela Bastidas Ave. to Shapaja St. Turn right onto José Olaya Ave. and follow it to the eleventh block, then turn left onto Cusco St. Three blocks later turn left onto Jorge Chávez St. then proceed for one more block to the hotel.
