Hotel Description
A jungle lodge just steps from the town of Puerto Maldonado but with the setting of a remote rainforest retreat, the Wasai Puerto Maldonado Eco lodge is ideal for business and adventure travelers seeking authentic contact with nature. Built into a hillside on the banks of the Madre de Dios River, the lodge is a private refuge traversed by waterfalls and surrounded by lush vegetation. Guest rooms are housed inside rustic wooden bungalows built on stilts designed to blend in with the natural environment. Each room has large windows, lovely sunrise or river views and amenities such as mini-bars, cable TV, fans and optional air conditioning.
There is a swimming pool and terrace on the property with beautiful views of the river as well as a pier from which boat excursions to lakes and rainforest destinations depart. The staff, a team of locals and international volunteers, are a friendly bunch who are more than willing to help with airport transfers, laundry service and equipment rentals (including bikes and motorbikes). Guests also have access to Internet, fax, telephone and radio facilities.
Area
The lodge is located just a block from Puerto Maldonado's main plaza within close reach of the post office, banks, Internet cafes, shopping, bars and discotheques. Its pier on the banks of the Madre de Dios River is the starting point for rainforest expeditions.
Food & Beverage
A generous continental breakfast consisting of bread, eggs, coffee and juice is served from 5am to 10am. The open-air restaurant with wonderful river views serves traditional Amazonian cuisine and international fare. Sloths, nocturnal monkeys, birds and agoutis pay guests a visit during dinnertime and there is a poolside bar which offers both exotic and traditional drinks.
