Hotel Description

Founded by a former guide who fell in love with the forests of Santa Teresa, the Eco Quechua Lodge is a hotel and restaurant/bar where guests can enjoy a carbon-neutral vacation immersed in the beauty and tranquility of nature. Situated less than three miles northwest from the famed Machu Picchu citadel, the hotel lies within a private nature reserve along a rushing river where lush tropical foliage and biodiversity abound. Built with wood from local sources and palm thatch collected by a neighboring Machiguenga tribe, it features eco-friendly facilities such as solar water heaters and a low-impact septic system. The bungalows are comfortable retreats complete with orthopedic mattresses and large, shared bathrooms, ideal for relaxing after a day full of bird watching, hiking, swimming, fishing, strolling through a canopy walkway or visiting a nearby indigenous community. A complimentary shuttle service runs between the hotel and the Machu Picchu citadel.

Area

The lodge is located just outside the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu at an altitude of 5,019 feet above sea level. It is situated within the Santa Teresa district of Cuzco's La Convención province within a private natural forest reserve along a rushing river. An indigenous Machiguenga community lives nearby.
