Hotel Description
Cocachacra Wasi is a hotel nestled in a verdant Andean valley a two hours' drive from central Lima. Blessed with year-round sunshine and clear blue skies, it makes for an excellent base for hiking excursions to local natural attractions such as waterfalls and pre-Inca ruins. The comfortable, en suite rooms are appointed with all of the necessary amenities to make guests feel at home. On site there is a lush garden with tropical plants and a pleasant lounge area.
Area
The hotel is located in the Santa Cruz de Cocachacra district near the 53 km mark of the Central Highway. It lies in a verdant Andean valley near pre-Inca ruins and prickly pear fields. The Zárate Forest, bat cave and cochineal farms of San Bartolomé can be reached in ten minutes. A twenty-minute drive will take you to San Jerónimo de Surco with its colonial church dating to 1836 and beautiful waterfalls that can be reached via one- to three-hour hiking circuits.
Food & Beverage
The hotel serves a complimentary breakfast each morning from 7 to 7:30 am. The restaurant, open from 8 am to 10 pm, offers an à la carte menu featuring chicken broth and pachamanca. There is also a café and bar on site. In addition, guests can savor local delicacies and fruits such as guinea pig, chirimoyas (custard apples), avocados, prickly pear fruit, pacay fruit and peaches.
How To Get There
There are two ways to get to the hotel by bus from Lima. You can either take the Lima-Chosica buses that pick up passengers along Paseo Colón St. or the Lima-Chosica buses that pick up passengers along Ayacucho St. and on the corner of Chota St. and Paseo Colón St. No matter which bus you take, you should get off at the Echenique Park of Chosica and take one of the small buses that go to Matucana, requesting to be let off at the hotel.
