Hotel Description
The Hotel Tirol is a cozy guest house that receives travelers with warm and friendly hospitality. Built in charming German architectural style in accordance with local traditions, it was in fact Pozuzo's first hotel and today has been lovingly renovated to provide vacationers with a homey place to stay among the region's lush jungle scenery. Guest rooms have fine wooden furnishings, as does the rest of the property, and there is a choice of private or shared bathroom facilities. Two four-person bungalows feature private terraces with beautiful views. All rooms are set in the midst of the hotel's lovely gardens, which are full of flowering tropical plants and contain a river-fed swimming pool.
Area
The hotel is located in the small village of Prusia in the district of Pozuzo. Settled by Austrian and German immigrants, the region still clings to its European heritage. The surrounding area is full of verdant mountains, cattle ranches, and fruit and coffee plantations.
Food & Beverage
Guests can enjoy a breakfast of coffee, orange juice, rolls, yucca, plantains, eggs, cheese and marmalade. Some of the best pancakes in the region can also be served up at sunrise but must be requested in advance.
Delicious pachamancas and barbecues can be prepared in the hotel gardens and guests can enjoy Pisco Sours and other drinks as they relax by the pool. The hotel can accommodate special meal and beverage requests, or if you feel like dining out there are plenty of restaurants nearby offering both local and German cuisine.
How To Get There
To get to the hotel from Oxapampa, take the 60-mile unpaved road north to Pozuzo (a five-hour journey). When you reach the entrance to the Pozuzo district, which is clearly marked with an arch, cross the bridge. At the other side of the bridge you'll see a large sign for the Hotel Tirol. Follow the arrow on the sign and continue for about 300 yards to the hotel.
