Hotel Description
The D'Palma Lodge is an ideal ecotourism or family vacation destination nestled in the lush highland jungles of the Pasco department. It sits perched on a hill in the province of Oxapampa and offers guests outdoor activities such as wildlife photography and native tree identification. The staff can also help arrange visits to local native communities, orchid observation excursions and fishing trips.
The lodge consists of seven rustic cabins reminiscent of Alpine chalets, built according to the traditions Austro-German immigrants brought with them when they settled here in the mid-1800s. The cabin types include two doubles, one twin, one triple, two five-person family cabins and one four-person family cabin, each one appointed with a private bathroom, cable TV and terrace. There is also a common terrace on the hilltop where guests can rest in hammocks and admire the beautiful views of the valley below. Other common areas include a reading room, children's playground and ample dining room. Private parking is available on site.
Area
The lodge is located in the town of Oxapampa at the end of a main road. Situated atop a hill, it enjoys beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.
Food & Beverage
Each morning the hotel's restaurant serves an Oxapampan breakfast of smoked meat and sausages. Lunch and dinner are also offered, accompanied on many occasions by musical and dance performances.
How To Get There
To get to the lodge from points south and west of Oxapampa, cross the Esperanza River at the entrance to town and continue along San Martín Ave. Take your ninth right onto Thomas Schaus St., passing the Essalud hospital on your right. Follow this road to its end and you'll arrive at the lodge.
