Amazon Dolphin Lodge
Hotel Description
Make yourself at home and experience the wonders of the Amazon at this basic but comfortable lodge 150 miles from Iquitos. At the Amazon Dolphin Lodge you won't find luxury but you will find everything you need to enjoy the rainforest to the full and you can rest easy knowing it's run in an environmentally and socially responsible manner. Designed and built in traditional local style on stilts and with thatched roofs, the lodge can accommodate up to 15 people in twin and triple rooms. The guest rooms, all of which are well-ventilated and have mosquito netting on all of the windows, are located in bungalows with balconies where you can chill out in a hammock as you gaze out over the river and into the surrounding jungle. There is a large common room for hanging out, socializing and dining, and since there's no electricity the lodge is lit by oil lamps at night.
The accommodations are offered as part of an all-inclusive trip package which comprises pick-up from the airport in Iquitos, transfer to the lodge, all day and night-time excursions and bilingual guides. The staff also organize ayahuasca sessions (at an additional cost) and camping outings in the middle of the jungle.
Area
The lodge is located 150 miles south of the city of Iquitos along the Yarapa River. It lies in the midst of lush Amazonian rainforest not far from the Ucayali River, a tributary of the mighty Amazon.
Food & Beverage
Accommodations include breakfast, lunch and dinner at the lodge. Vegetarian meals can be provided if the lodge is given prior notice.
How To Get There
Transportation to the lodge is included in the price of accommodations. First, you'll take a 1.5-hour car ride south to the city of Nauta. From there you'll board a traditional jungle boat which will take you along the Marañón and Ucayali Rivers, passing the point where these two rivers join to form the Amazon. Two hours later you'll arrive at the lodge along the Yarapa River. The trip takes about five hours in all.
