Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge
Hotel Description
A little slice of paradise moments from the Amazon River, the Amazonas Sinchicuy Lodge is an eco-friendly lodge built in native style on a patch of high ground full of flowers, birds and butterflies. It offers guests the opportunity to experience the rainforest in all its beauty and to visit communities who call it home.
There are 32 guest rooms in all, each one appointed with mosquito nets, a private bathroom and traditional jungle décor. Elevated walkways connect the rooms with the common facilities, which include the main house with its dining room and bar, the panoramic round house with its reading room and auditorium, a hammock room and an observation deck overlooking Sinchicuy Creek. Sustainable water purification and waste disposal systems are used to reduce the lodge's environmental impact.
The room rates include an English- or Spanish-speaking guide and a host of eco-cultural and environmental conservation activities across a large area spanning two distinct watersheds: the Sinchicuy and Yanayacu. A visit to a traditional Yagua community, an explanation of medicinal plants by a shaman, a tour of the farms of Santa María de Ojeal, an ethnobotanical walk, a nocturnal canoe ride for spotting insects, early morning birdwatching, native-style piranha fishing, participating in a local reforestation program and much more are all included.
Area
The lodge is located on a patch of high ground alongside Sinchicuy Creek near the Amazon River where birds and butterflies abound. The site is full of lovely tropical gardens and is situated less than 19 miles (approximately 45 minutes) from Iquitos to the northeast.
Food & Beverage
Three buffet-style meals a day and drinking water are included in the price of lodging. The cuisine is based on fresh natural products harvested from the rivers and nearby farms. A complimentary welcome drink prepared with rainforest fruits (cocona, camu camu, copoazu, etc.) is served to guests upon arrival and a variety of exotic drinks are available for purchase at the bar.
How To Get There
The room rates include transportation from the Iquitos airport to the lodge and back.
Important: Guests are recommended to select the earliest morning departure flight to Iquitos so as to commence their tour at 9:30 am. And they are urged to select the last flight of the day when departing from Iquitos. Otherwise they will be charged additional transfer costs.
