Hostería Suiza
Hotel Description
The Ica desert is one of Peru's most arid regions, where rivers descending from the Andes are devoured by the sand before reaching the sea. These rivers give rise to subterranean streams that break the surface in certain areas, producing palm and huarango tree oases. One of the most famous examples of these is the Huacachina oasis, located just minutes outside the city of Ica and an ideal spot for relaxing, engaging in ecological tourism and playing sports. In this unique place surrounded by sand dunes lies the Hostería Suiza, a hotel that stands out from the rest for its proven quality and personalized service.
The 30 guest rooms come in singles, doubles, triples and quads which are appointed with private bathrooms, comfortable beds, chairs, wardrobes and large windows that let in plenty of natural light. Rooms with shared bathrooms are also available. And there's no better way to relax after a busy day of sand boarding and dune buggying than taking a refreshing dip in the pool surrounded by beautiful gardens. Attentive and friendly, the hotel staff are happy to assist guests at all times with tourist information, tour arrangements, transfers, luggage storage, safety deposit and 24-hour reception service.
Area
The hotel is situated on the edge of the Huacachina lagoon in the city of Ica, just minutes from the city center. There is a good selection of quality restaurants around the lagoon and in the city center you'll find important shopping centers, stores, cafés and banks.
Food & Beverage
Each morning a complimentary American-style breakfast is served to all guests except for those lodging in guest rooms with shared bathrooms. The large restaurant has a lovely terrace next to the pool and offers a varied lunch and dinner menu consisting of excellent local, Peruvian and international cuisine. The bar serves the best pisco sour around as well as a comprehensive selection of alcoholic drinks. Room service is available.
How To Get There
To get to the hotel from Ica's Plaza de Armas head west along José Matías Manzanilla Ave. and when you reach the rotary take Los Maestros Ave. south. Soon you'll reach another rotary, this time taking the first exit onto Ayabaca Ave. Head west along Ayabaca and take your first left onto Huacachina Ave. Follow Huacachina Ave. to the end and it will take you directly to the oasis. The hotel is located at the western end of the lagoon.

Only 2 gripes -- lots of mosquitoes inside of the room, and someone who looked like the owner refused to give us change for a bill.

There's no AC, just a fan. Our room (12) was a bit warm, but with the fan we managed. We had a great view of the Laguna from our balcony, no noise or light problems whatsoever.
Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was served in the pool/garden area, very good. Great fresh coffee, fresh bread and eggs made to order.
No wifi, but we saw two computers around the lobby. Perhaps during high season they are up and running for use.
Overall we were very happy with this choice. Not cheap (for Peru standards), but probably the best around town (certainly our best option, since we wanted to be away from the noise and didn't want to stay at Mossoni).
