Hotel Description

The Ica desert is one of Peru's most arid regions, where rivers descending from the Andes are devoured by the sand before reaching the sea. These rivers give rise to subterranean streams that break the surface in certain areas, producing palm and huarango tree oases.

One of the most famous examples of these is the Huacachina oasis, located just minutes outside the city of Ica and an ideal spot for relaxing, engaging in ecological tourism and playing sports. In this unique place surrounded by sand dunes lies the Hostería Suiza, a hotel that stands out from the rest for its proven quality and personalized service.

The 30 guest rooms come in singles, doubles, twins, triples and quads which are appointed with private bathrooms, comfortable beds, chairs, wardrobes and large windows that let in plenty of natural light.

There's no better way to relax after a busy day of sand boarding and dune buggying than taking a refreshing dip in the pool surrounded by beautiful gardens. Attentive and friendly, the hotel staff are happy to assist guests at all times with tourist information, tour arrangements, transfers, luggage storage, safety deposit and 24-hour reception service.

Area

The hotel is situated on the edge of the Huacachina lagoon in the city of Ica, just minutes from the city center. There is a good selection of quality restaurants around the lagoon and in the city center you'll find important shopping centers, stores, cafés and banks.

Food & Beverage

Each morning a complimentary American-style breakfast is served to all guests. The large restaurant has a lovely terrace next to the pool and offers a varied lunch and dinner menu consisting of excellent local, Peruvian and international cuisine. The bar serves the best pisco sour around as well as a comprehensive selection of other alcoholic drinks. Room service is available.

How To Get There

To get to the hotel from Ica's Plaza de Armas head west along José Matías Manzanilla Ave. and when you reach the rotary take Los Maestros Ave. south. Soon you'll reach another rotary, this time taking the first exit onto Ayabaca Ave. Head west along Ayabaca and take your first left onto Huacachina Ave. Follow Huacachina Ave. to the end and it will take you directly to the oasis. The hotel is located at the western end of the lagoon.

Relaxed and quiet
This place was very clean and quieter than many of the rowdier places catering to younger backpackers. Breakfast started at 7 but staff was nice enough to set out a few items when I had to leave earlier for a tour. Pool area was nice but the surface of the pool was a little scuzzy because some birds like to take a dip there.

Probably one of the best places to stay at Huacachina
Although it may be considered a bit pricey, it was excellent accommodation. Hot water available but not late at night when all the hot water gets used up. Nice pool area and garden area, free internet at the two pc's available. Probably one of the best hostel/hotels in Huacachina. Note, if your budget allows it stay at Huacachina instead of Ica!

beautiful spot
My friend and I stayed for 1 night and were very pleased with what we got. The room was clean and well decorated, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was great. The pool outside was well maintained, the breakfast was delicious, and almost all the staff were more than accommodating. When another tour agency left us behind for a tour, the woman at the front desk called and explained our situation, and got them to arrange a ride for us.
Only 2 gripes -- lots of mosquitoes inside of the room, and someone who looked like the owner refused to give us change for a bill.

Great quiet spot at Huacachina
We were very happy with this hotel choice, probably one of the best around Huacachina (don't expect any new or fancy hotels in the area). It's at the very end of the Laguna, which offers nice views and peace and quiet. The decor is very nice, the house and pool area are lovely (great views of the dunes from the pool and garden area), but the room furniture is a bit old. Towels could be softer and newer, but overall it feels clean (barely, but clean).

There's no AC, just a fan. Our room (12) was a bit warm, but with the fan we managed. We had a great view of the Laguna from our balcony, no noise or light problems whatsoever.

Staff was very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was served in the pool/garden area, very good. Great fresh coffee, fresh bread and eggs made to order.

No wifi, but we saw two computers around the lobby. Perhaps during high season they are up and running for use.

Overall we were very happy with this choice. Not cheap (for Peru standards), but probably the best around town (certainly our best option, since we wanted to be away from the noise and didn't want to stay at Mossoni).
