A Peruvian national monument and gem of colonial architecture built hundreds of years ago, the Hotel Monasterio is a luxurious retreat in the heart of imperial Cuzco that transports guests back in time. Built in 1592 as a Catholic seminary, in 1965 it underwent a thorough remodeling but still retains historic charm in its elaborately carved wooden doors, lavishly appointed interiors adorned with paintings of the Cuzco School and ample inner courtyard with stone arches, gardens and a fountain.
Its 108 rooms and suites are appointed with deluxe bathrooms, cable TV, two telephones, heating, safety boxes and unlimited wireless Internet access. The junior suites are bi-level, with a bedroom on the second floor and an exquisitely furnished living room on the first. The "presidential" suites come with marble bathrooms and king size beds while the "royal" suites feature four telephones and a private terrace. The hotel has an oxygen enrichment system for the air, designed to alleviate altitude sickness, and facilities for accommodating disabled guests.

Area
The hotel is located in the heart of Cuzco, two blocks from the Plaza de Armas and close to restaurants, cafés, shops and shopping centers. The train station with service to Machu Picchu is just a few minutes away via taxi and the drive to the airport takes about ten minutes.

The hotel's Tupay Restaurant service a scrumptious complimentary gourmet breakfast each morning. It consists of freshly baked bread, eggs cooked to order, fruit juice, coffee or tea. A Japanese-style breakfast of grilled trout, rice and green tea is another irresistible option.
The Illariy Restaurant, located alongside the beautiful central courtyard, offers Peruvian and international dishes for lunch and dinner. The dinner menu features special gourmet fare and room service is available.
How To Get There
To get to the hotel from Cuzco's Plaza de Armas head towards the little plaza of Nazarenas via Herrajes St. When you reach the plaza turn left and continue for half a block more until you come to the hotel on your left.
