Casa de la Gringa
Backpackers seeking a laid-back hotel with a funky vibe will feel right at home at Alojamiento Casa de la Gringa. Making up for its lack of luxury with friendly and helpful staff, it's got individually designed rooms splashed with color and common areas that are great for hanging out and meeting other travelers.
There's a TV room with DVDs, cable and CD players as well as a small patio full of San Pedro cacti which is used in healing rituals performed by the South African woman who runs the place.
Guests will also have access to Wi-Fi and a computer with Internet access. The house itself is a piece of history, having been a dwelling place for Franciscan monks, and a mummy was once found behind one of its walls.
Alojamiento Casa de la Gringa is tucked into Cuzco's tranquil and picture-perfect San Blas neighborhood just three minutes from the city's main plaza. There are lots of little bars in the vicinity featuring live music and artisans toil away in their workshops lining the quaint cobblestone streets.
Food & Beverage
Guests are served breakfast each morning and are welcome to use the kitchen at any time. Hot water is always available for preparing tea and other beverages.
How To Get There
From Cuzco's main plaza head uphill on Triunfo street (to the right of the Cathedral). Walk five blocks, passing the San Blas church on your right, then take a left and walk one more block. Then take a right and very soon you'll see the hotel on your left.
