Good value for price, good staff
Wife not happy with 1st room offered, so clerk gave us better room and was very helpful. Long uphill walk from train station, but good bed and very accomodating staff.

Exactly what we needed!
We had a great experience at Pirwa Hostel Machu Picchu! The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgable about the process of getting to Machu Picchu, what to do if we wanted to be there at sunrise, where to buy tickets, how to get on the list for Huaynu Picchu, etc... We felt welcome from the second we arrived. We were met at the train station and when we arrived at the hotel, the receptionist gave us a thorough tour before personally taking us to our room.

The rooms were no-frills, but very comfortable beds, hot water showers, TVs in the rooms.. etc. For the price, it was absolutely worth it.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Aguas Calientes.

Friendliness and smiles all around :)
If you are looking for a local flavor, helpful and accommodating staff and beautiful views, are willing to overlook the fact that the sounds of the outside are seeping in (I found earplugs extremely helpful), you are in the right place. Even though the rooms were modestly furnished and breakfast did not have 30 choices of muesli, all was clean, people smiling and ready to help you with anything you may want to know. Also, I found the Peruvian habit of using down comforters on beds extremely appealing. :)
I would recommend that place any time and am looking forward to my return next year!
