Hotel Description
Nestled in a hillside favela overlooking the beachside district of Copacabana, the Chill Hostel Rio offers budget travelers safe lodging in a laid-back atmosphere. Each guest room affords breathtaking ocean views and guests can chill on the ample terrace, in the hammock or in the tropical garden. Or they can watch a DVD in the living room, whip up a meal in the fully-equipped kitchen, connect to Wi-Fi anywhere they please, play pool or make use of the myriad books and games available to them. The house itself was designed by the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer and the friendly owners offer unique ways to experience Rio de Janeiro, like their off-the-beaten-track "Barcrawl" tour.
Area
The hostel is situated in the safe hillside favela of Babilonia, one-third of a mile uphill from Rio's beachside Copacabana district. The beach is within easy reach and there are supermarkets, restaurants and laundromats within walking distance.

The hostel has its own cozy intimate bar and guests can prepare their own meals in the fully-equipped kitchen.
How To Get There
The hostel is accessible via taxi and bus.
To get there by bus from the airport, take the bus to the "zona sul" and request to be dropped off in front of the Ibero Star Hotel (formerly the Meridien Hotel) in Leme. From there, walk two blocks along Gustavo Sampaio Rd. and take a left onto Anchieta St. Follow this street to the end, then turn right and keep walking until you see the mototaxis. Take a mototaxi up the hill to Casa 35 and you're there.
To get there by bus from the Rodoviaria bus station, cross to the opposite side of the street and take the #2011 bus to Leme. Get off at the final stop and from there walk along Atlantica Ave. towards Copacabana. Take a right onto Anchieta St., follow this street to its end then take a right and keep walking until you see the mototaxis. Take a mototaxi up the hill to Casa 35 and you're there.
